The Ephrata Lions Club will sponsor its 23rd annual Sports CardShow and Auction on Saturday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the EphrataRecreation Center, 130 S. Academy Drive, Ephrata. More than threedozen dealers will be present to buy, sell and trade baseball cardsand other sports-related items.
Between 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., former Philadelphia Flyers goalieBernie Parent will sign autographs. Parent appears courtesy of BlueRidge Communications and Comcast SportsNet.
The sports memorabilia auction will begin at 3 p.m. More than 225items will be auctioned, including complete baseball card sets,valuable individual baseball cards, sports publications, Hartlandstatues, bobbing-head dolls and tickets to sporting events.Highlights of the auction include complete sets of Topps baseballcards from 1951, 1953, 1954, 1955 and 1956; a Rusty Wallace 'MillerRacing' pit crew full uniform; and Mickey Mantle baseball cards.
The auction also includes sports memorabilia autographed by pastand present sports stars including Hank Aaron, Muhammed Ali, RichAshburn, Sammy Baugh, Yogi Berra, Larry Bird, Terry Bradshaw, KerryCollins, Joe DiMaggio, Lenny Dykstra, Luis Gonzalez, Joe Frazier,Wayne Gretzky, Jack Hamm, Rickey Henderson, Larry Holmes, HarmonKillebrew, Don Larsen, Mickey Mantle, Joe Montana, Don Newcombe, KenNorton, Arnold Palmer, Jim Palmer, Cal Ripken Jr., Brooks Robinson,Frank Robinson, Scott Rolen, Pete Rose, Nolan Ryan, Mike Schmidt,Enos Slaughter, Ken Stabler, Willie Stargell, Don Sutton and TroyVincent.
Admission to the show is $2 for adults and $1 for children under15. Admission before 12:30 p.m. includes one autograph by Parent.Additional autographs are $5 if time permits. Proceeds from the showand auction benefit the Ephrata area youth baseball program and theEphrata Recreation Center.
